Lazio 1-4 Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich have one foot in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after thrashing Lazio 4-1 in their last 16 first-leg clash at Stadio Olimpico.
The Bavarians made two changes from their defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, as Leon Goretzka and Jamal Musiala started ahead of Marc Roca and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
Robert Lewandowski gave the visitors a perfect start with the lead in the ninth minute after intercepting a back pass from Mateo Musacchio, rounded goalkeeper Pepe Reina and scored into an empty net.
Musiala doubled the lead for Bayern in the 24th minute with a low strike at the near post after a through ball by Goretzka.
Leroy Sane gave Hans-Dieter Flick's charges a three-goal cushion just before the break with a tap-in from a rebound after Reina parried Kingsley Coman's shot on his path.
The German side added a fourth goal just two minutes from the break after Franseco Acerbi could not deal with Sane's cross inside the six-yard box and turned it into his own net.
Joaquin Correa pulled a goal back for Lazio two minutes later after getting past a couple of challenges to smash past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, but the strike could prove to be nothing more than consolation in the tie.
Atletico Madrid 0-1 Chelsea
Chelsea edged Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 tie at Arena Nationala in Bucharest on Tuesday evening.
The Blues made four changes from the draw at Southampton, with Andreas Christensen, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jorginho and Olivier Giroud all recalled.
Atletico were absorbing the pressure and playing from the break early on, with Chelsea only getting a shot on target in the 25th minute after Marcos Alonso lined up a low strike from a rebound that was saved by shot-stopper Jan Oblak.
In a very tight contest, Thomas Tuchel's charges came close to breaking the deadlock just before the break after Mason Mount picked out Timo Werner on the left channel and the German turned away from Stefan Savic to unleash a strike that was saved by Oblak.
Giroud eventually broke the deadlock for the Blues in the 68th minute with a stunning overhead kick, with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reversing the initial on-pitch offside decision.
