UEFA Champions League

Result: Arsenal 1 (2) - (10) 5 Bayern Munich

Date: 07 March 2017

Venue: Emirates

Bayern Munich romped into the next round of the UEFA Champions League, after claiming a 10-2 aggregate win over Arsenal.

The Gunners got off to a bright start and nearly went ahead after 12 minutes with Olivier Giroud's effort hitting the woodwork.

Arsenal eventually broke the deadlock in the 18th minute as Theo Walcott rifled home a superb effort into the roof of the net to make it 5-2 on aggregate.

Bayern should have been level after 37 minutes when Robert Lewandowski was played through on goal, however the Polish forward volleyed wide from six-yards out.

The score remained 1-0 as the sides entered the halftime break.

Bayern were awarded a penalty after 53 minutes when Lewandowski was brought down by Laurent Koscielny, who was shown a straight red card.

Lewandowski stepped up to convert to the spot-kick to make it 1-1 on the night and 6-2 on aggregate.

Bayern then took lead in the 68th minute as Arjen Robben dispossessed Alexis Sanchez before calmly slotting past David Ospina from close range.

The visitors added a third goal 10 minutes later as Douglas Costa skipped past Shkodran Mustafi with ease before curling the ball into the far corner, 3-1.

Arturo Vidal got in on the scoring act in the 80th minute as the Chilean bagged Bayern's fourth with a lovley lob from close range.

Vidal got his second and Bayern's fifth, as Costa turned provider to unselfishly tee up the Chilean for the simple tap in to make 5-1 on the night and 10-2 on aggregate.
