The UEFA Champions League is back tonight, and with there being plenty of shock results already, we decided to take a look and see if the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi would make it into Transfermarkt's most valuable Champions League XI.

There are eight La Liga-based players in this starting XI – four from FC Barcelona, two from Real Madrid and two from Atletico Madrid. The other three places are occupied by stars from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The team is estimated to be worth about £705 million (R11.5 billion), with the most valuable player being Barcelona striker Lionel Messi.
