Using player performance scores, WhoScored.com recently put together a Best XI of the UCL group stage in a 4-4-2 formation.

Defending champions Bayern Munich are represented by three stars after dominating Group A to finish top with 16 points, while Juventus also have three players in the line-up, having finished on a high note with a 3-0 victory over FC Barcelona to take top spot in Group G.

Manuel Neuer was chosen in goal after making more saves than any other keeper in the group stage.

Ahead of him, Juve duo Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro line up alongside Bayern's Niklas Sule and Cristian Romero of Atalanta.

In midfield, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar were named on the flanks while Joshua Kimmich and Bruno Fernandes occupied the engine room – interestingly, Fernandes is the only player in the team whose side has been eliminated from the competition.
