Sevilla qualified for the tournament automatically after claiming the Europa League trophy last season, and Valencia secured their spot in the competition on Tuesday night.
Last season's Champions League winners, Barcelona, and semi-finalists, Real, who finished first and second in La Liga respectively, both gained automatic qualification, along with third-placed Atletico.
Spain have become the first ever nation to have five teams competing for the famous trophy. Spanish teams also boast a record of winning four of the past seven editions of the tournament.
This is the first time a nation could have five teams in the group stages of the competition – UEFA decided, in 2014, that the winners of the Europa League would automatically qualify for the Champions League in the following season.
