After Manchester City were handed a two-year ban from the UEFA Champions League, reports have now emerged which claim that some of Europe's biggest clubs pushed for the reigning Premier League champions to be expelled from the competition.
The Premier League is also expected to conduct an independent investigation into the club's finances which, according to previous reports, could result in a points deduction or relegation to League Two, although the latter eventuality remains highly unlikely.
