Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who has been heavily criticised for failing to win the UEFA Champions League since leaving FC Barcelona, has now surpassed the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho in one area.

The 49-year-old saw his side come from behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.
Despite questions being raised as to Guardiola's credentials in Europe since his exit from Barca in 2012, the manager moved ahead of a few legendary names with his latest win.
The Spanish tactician, who won the competition in 2009 and 2011, has now claimed 28 victories in the Champions League knockout stage, which is one more than Ferguson, Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti managed.

Mourinho could, however, draw level with his counterpart once again should Tottenham Hotspur beat RB Leipzig in Germany in two weeks time.

In addition, Guardiola is also now the manager with the most wins against Los Blancos across all platforms in the 21st century, with 10 victories to his name.
