Why Antonio Conte Could Make Shock Inter Milan Exit

Why Antonio Conte Could Make Shock Inter Milan Exit

It has been claimed that Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte could walk away from the club despite having just won the Serie A title.

The 51-year-old recently celebrated an incredible achievement with the Nerazzurri – winning the club's first league title since 2010.

With the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez in top form, Inter finished the season 12 points clear of second-placed AC Milan, with Atalanta ending third and Juventus fourth.

While the triumph has put smiles on the faces of many, the joy might not be long-lasting after La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Inter might need to sell some big names in the upcoming transfer window.

It is claimed that Inter president Steven Zhang and the club's Chinese owners Suning have made it clear that the team's wage bill needs to be lowered, and that €100 million (R1.6 billion) needs to be raised in player sales.

Conte is believed to have responded furiously to these plans ahead of next season, and could soon meet president Zhang to discuss the termination of his contract.

The Italian tactician joined Inter in 2019 after two years at Chelsea in the Premier League, and has one year remaining on his contract with the Nerazzurri.
