Inter Milan 2-1 Sassuolo
Inter Milan consolidated their healthy lead at the top of the Serie A standings with a 2-1 victory over Sassuolo on Tuesday.
Stefan de Vrij, Matteo Darmian and Roberto Gagliardini came into the hosts' starting XI from the team that narrowly beat out Bologna last time out. Sassuolo made no changes to the team who held Roma to a draw.
In the 4th minute, Pedro Obiang wasn't too far off the mark for the visitors, pouncing on a sloppy square ball near the edge of Inter's box and curling a low effort just around the wrong side of the left post.
Romelu Lukaku gave the Nerazzurri the lead in the 13th minute when he headed the ball into the back of the net with his back to goal from ex-Manchester United teammate Ashley Young's delivery.
Sassuolo had a magnificent chance to level proceedings in the 41st minute. A delightful throughball released Boga, who went one-on-one with Samir Handanovic, but the keeper did brilliantly to make the block with his feet.
Lautaro Martinez doubled Inter's lead in the 68th minute. Antonio Conte's side broke quickly with a long ball to Lukaku. He played it inside to his strike partner, one-on-one with Consigli, and he slotted it neatly into the bottom-right corner.
In the 85th minute, Hamed Traore pulled one back for Sassuolo.nter made a meal of clearing their lines, and the ball richocheted out to the Empoli loanee, who produced a spectacular finish into the far top corner past Handanovic.
And despite a nervy final five minutes, Conte's men were able to hold on for a precious three points.
Juventus 2-1 Napoli
Juventus kept their slim title hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Napoli on Wednesday.
Ronaldo missed a gilt-edged opportunity in just the second minute when Cuadrado played through Danilo and he crossed to the Portuguese in the box but he couldn't get enough of a touch on it as his flicked header went wide.
However, the Bianconeri superstar made amends 10 minutes later when he gave the Old Lady the lead. Federico Chiesa skipped past a couple of Napoli defenders on the right before he cut it back for Ronaldo in the middle of the box, who placed a finish into the bottom far corner.
In the 37th minute, Cuadrado went on a mazy run, weaving his way skilfully past three defenders before unleahing a fierce drive towards goal but it was straight down the throat of Napoli keeper Alex Meret.
The Juventus defenders then allowed Insigne far too much time and space on the edge of the box and Buffon looked beaten all ends up but luckily for him it flew just over the crossbar.
Juve countered quickly in the 53rd minute break quickly with Morata finding Cuadrado on his right. He had time to set himself before drilling his shot on goal, but it went wide of the near post.
Paulo Dybala and Winston McKennie came on for Morata and Cuadrado in the 68th minute. Buffon pulled off a fine save to deny Fabian Ruiz before Dybala made the desired impact off the bench to net the killer second.
The Argentine was fed by Uruguayan Rodrigo Bentancur just inside the box and he swivelled and unleashed a strike instinctively without raising and using Koulibally as a shiled curled it into the far bottom corner of the net.
Napoli pulled a goal back right at the death but it was a little too late. Victor Osimhen was fouled by Giorgio Chiellini and Lorenzo Insigne buried the penalty but it was a little too late.
