It has been confirmed that all sporting events in Italy, including Serie A matches, will be suspended until next month due to the fast-spreading coronavirus that has already claimed the lives of close to 500 people in the country.
It is said that the Italian Olympic Committee had previously called for all sports to be halted until early next month, a measure the government has now taken in order to stop the spreading of the highly contagious and dangerous coronavirus.
Italy's prime minister has now reportedly signed an order banning all public gatherings across the entire country, and added that people must only move for work and emergencies.
After a short suspension, Serie A resumed this past weekend behind closed doors, but will now only return at the beginning of April.
Italy is currently the European country with the most reported cases of the coronavirus, which is believed to have claimed 463 deaths on its shores.
