Although it is an uncommon occurrence, biting has been seen before in football, and on Tuesday night, a Serie A star was given a straight red card for sinking his teeth into an opponent.

Lazio dropped more points this week following a 2-1 loss to Lecce, a game that was not short of drama. Five yellow cards were handed out, and eventually a red card too after a biting incident in stoppage time.
Defender Patric shockingly sunk his teeth into the arm of Lecce defender Guilio Donati, before a VAR review found the 27-year-old Spaniard guilty.

There is no doubt the former FC Barcelona player will face strong punishment for his act, as was seen in the past with former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who has been guilty of biting an opponent three times in his career.

The Uruguayan's most recent indiscretion took place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he bit Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini and was later slapped with a nine-match international game ban and a four-month suspension from football-related activities.
