Serie A
Result: Lazio 1-1 Juventus
Date: 08 November 2020
Venue: Stadio Olimpico
Cristiano Ronaldo was on target yet again as but it was not enough to help Juventus secure victory at Lazio on Sunday afternoon.
Bianconeri manager Andrea Pirlo dropped Federico Chiesa and Aaron Ramsey out of the squad altogether for a change of formation, as Cristiano Ronaldo partnered Alvaro Morata upfront while Lazio were without captain Ciro Immobile, Lucas Leiva and goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha due to inconclusive Covid-19 test results.
Juventus took initiative to attack early on and Ronaldo eventually opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a tap-in in the centre of the box from Juan Cuadrado's cross.
The hosts came close to finding the equaliser in the 22nd minute after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic rose high at the back post to cushion a header across that just needed a touch but Vedat Muriqi failed to connect with the ball.
Lazio were fortunate not to go to the break trailing by more than one goal after Ronaldo rattled the frame of the goal with a curling strike just before the break.
Bianconeri were on the front foot coming from the break and Adrien Rabiot came close to doubling their just before the hour-mark after winning possession high up the pitch, but his shot was parried away by Pepe Reina.
Pirlo changed his approach in the last 13 minutes, playing with one striker upfront after taking out Ronaldo for precautionary reasons after the Portuguese picked up a knock and brought on Paulo Dybala in his place.
However, Felipe Caicedo levelled matters in the last action of stoppage time as he turned brilliantly inside the box from Joaquin Correa's pass and fired a strike into the bottom corner to deny Juventus back-to-back wins.
