Result: Juventus 4-1 Udinese
Date: 03 January 2021
Venue: Allianz Stadium
Cristiano Ronaldo started the new year with two goals and an assist to inspire Juventus to a 4-1 victory over Udinese on Sunday night.
Juve made two changes from their side that lost 3-0 to Fiorentina last time out. Juan Cuadrado missed the match due to suspension which allowed Danilo to step into defence, while Dybala partnered Ronaldo instead of Alvaro Morata.
Udinese thought they had taken the lead through De Paul in the 11th minute after Lasagna's accurate cross found the midfielder in space inside the penalty area, but after a VAR review - the goal was waved off due to a handball in the build-up.
Ten minutes later, Ramsey got on the end of a beautiful one-two passing move with Ronaldo and found himself in the penalty area, but he was unable to bring the ball under his control as Bonifazi was able to whack it away momentarily.
The Bianconeri took the lead in the 31st minute. Ramsey poked possession away from De Paul following a lax throw-in, which played Ronaldo into the penalty area. From there, the Portugal international cut inside and smashed a strike high into the net.
Chiesa made it 2-0 in the 49th minute. Just a minute after seeing his strike at goal saved, he found the back of the net - latching onto a throug-ball from Ronaldo hit with the outside of his foot and sending a left-footed effort past Musso at the far corner.
The third came in the 70th minute. Samir's lazy pass in midfield was intercepted by Bentancur, who immediately sent Ronaldo into the penalty area with a leading ball. The Portugal international took a touch to set himself before dispatching a low, side-footed effort into the bottom corner.
Udinese found their breakthrough in the 91st minute. Molina's clever work down the flank got him free of his marker, allowing him to roll a low cross into the six-yard box for Nestorovski. His touch was poked away by Szczesny for Zeegelaar, who finished with aplomb.
There was still time for Juve to grab a fourth through Dybala. Musso was furious with his defence after a Danilo pass was allowed to casually roll between Udinese centre-backs for Dybala to get onto. From there, a lovely scooped effort left the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
