Serie A Report: Juventus v Inter Milan 15 May 2021

Result: Juventus 3-2 Inter Milan

Date: 15 May 2021

Venue: Allianz Stadium

Juventus climbed up to fourth on the Serie A standings with a 3-2 victory over newly crowned champions Inter Milan on Saturday evening.

Andrea Pirlo made a few changes for the must win encounter as Rodrigo Bentancur, Juan Cuadrado and Wojciech Szczesny and Dejan Kulusevski were recalled.

Kulusevski nearly repaid the faith after just 11 minutes in after getting on the end of Danilo's cross, but his effort was blocked just before the goal-line.

The hosts were then awarded a penalty on 23 minutes when Matteo Darman brought down Giorgio Chiellini. Ronaldo stepped up and saw his spot-kick saved by Samir Handanovic, but he was quick to slot home the rebound.

Just over 10 minutes later, Inter were awarded a penalty of their own Mathjis de Ligt brought down Romelu Lukaku, who dusted himself to slot home the spot-kick.

However, Juve managed to restore their lead on the stroke of halftime thanks to superb strike from Cuadrado that left Handanovic with no chance.

The second half got off to a fiery start which saw the home reduced to 10 men on 55 minutes when Bentancur was sent off for picking up his second yellow card.

While Wiston Mckenni replaced Kulusevski soon after, Pirlo opted to withdraw Ronaldo for the 20 minutes and introduced Alvaro Morata for fresh legs upfront.

Inter got back on level terms on 82 minutes when Ivan Perisic's cross deflected in off Chiellini, with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) approving the goal.

There was more drama minutes later as Juventus were awarded a penalty after Cuadrado was adjudged to have been fouled in the box and with Ronaldo off the pitch, the Colombian dispatched the penalty to seal the win for Juventus.

Antonio Conte's side also finished the game with 10 men as Marcelo Brozovic was given his marching orders moments later for a second yellow card, as Juve now wait for Napoli and AC Milan to slip up on Sunday.
