Result: Juventus 0-1 Benevento

Date: 21 March 2021

Venue: Allianz Stadium

Juventus' Serie A title charge suffered another major blow after falling to a 1-0 defeat to Benevento at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors nearly grabbed the opening goal inside five when Matthijs De Ligt's slip allowed Gianluca Lapadula through on goal by Wojciech Szczesny rushed off his line to deny the striker.

Pirlo's men had to wait until a while to get into their attacking groove as the half went, although Ronaldo did have goal-bound effort blocked by Barba in the box after 22 minutes.

Alvaro Morata looked to take it upon himself on 33 minutes after bursting into the Benevento box before seeing his strike palmed away by shot-stopper Lorenzo Montipo.

Juventus had the ball in the back of the net seven minutes before the break when Ronaldo nodded in a cross from Dejan Kulusevski, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

While the hosts struggled in the early exchanges of the second half, Benevento took a surprise lead in the 68th minute as Adolfo Gaich pounced on Arthur Melo's poor back pass before slotting into the bottom corner.

That proved to be Arthur's last involvement as the Brazilian made way for Rodrigo Bentancur while Weston McKennie replaced Adrien Rabiot for the final 20 minutes.

Montipo ensured Benevento walked away with the spoils after he produced a good save to keep out Ronaldo's shot from a tight angle, as Juventus remain 10 points behind league leaders Inter Milan.
