Serie A Report: Juventus v Atalanta 16 December 2020

Teams: Juventus 1-1 Atalanta

Date: 16 December 2020

Venue: Allianz Stadium

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in the second half as Juventus dropped points at Atalanta on Wednesday night.

A big chance went the way of Juventus in the first 12 minutes with a loose ball off a tackle from Berat Djimsiti fell into the path of Morata, who back-heeled wide after beating the offside trap.

Juventus were dealt a blow with 27 minutes gone when Arthur came off second best following a collision with Cristian Romero and subsequently made way for Adrien Rabiot.

This didn't affect the Bianconeri as Federico Chiesa took a through ball from Rodrigo Bentancur in his stride to curl home emphatically two minutes later after carving a yard of space.

Duvan Zapata could've brought the visitors back level a few minutes later with a powerful attempt from a smart run, but Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny dived across to parry, before the Juventus goalkeeper came up trumps again when he palmed Ruslan Malinovskiy's swerving free-kick from close-range.

Juventus should've made it two minutes into the second half through a smart attempt from Morata, but brave goalkeeping from Pierluigi Gollini denied the forward.

The Nerazzurri hit the leveller inside 57 minutes when Robin Freuler took a loose pass from Alejandro Gomez in his stride to fire in off the top of the crossbar.

Juventus could've gone back ahead from the penalty spot four minutes later following a foul on Chiesa, but Ronaldo had his effort saved by Gollini.

Both sides had a go at each other towards full-time with Morata bringing Gollini to a finger-tip save before Szcesny expertly denied Robin Gosens and Gomez, as it ended 1-1 in Turin.
