Serie A Report: Genoa v Juventus 30 June 2020

Result: Genoa 1-3 Juventus

Date: 30 June 2020

Venue: Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris

Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala were on target yet again as Juventus restored their four-point lead at the top of Serie A with victory over Genoa.

Miralem Pjanic kept his spot in the side, despite his transfer to FC Barcelona being confirmed on Monday while Blaise Matuidi made way for Danilo at left-back.

The visitors looked lively from the onset, with Ronaldo forcing a great save out of Mattia Perin, on loan from Juventus, with a stinging effort from distance.

Juventus carved out an opening on 35 minutes as Adrien Rabiot collected a pass from Juan Cuadrado but the Frenchman was unable to beat Perin.

Five minutes later, Genoa almost found themselves ahead against the run of play but Andrea Favilli dragged his effort across the face of goal after being played in by Valon Behrami.

Juventus eventually got their breakthrough five minutes after the halftime break as Paulo Dybala skipped two challenges before firing a low effort past Perin.

The visitors did not have wait long for a second goal, with Ronaldo getting on the act five minutes later with an impressive strike from 25 yards for his 24th league goal of the season.

The Old Lady's dominance continued as Douglas Costa registered the third goal with a superb curling finished into the top corner after cutting in from the flank.

Genoa were able to pull a goal back with 15 minutes left in the contest through Andrea Pinamonti powerful finish past Wojciech Szczesny after some good work by Davide Biraschi.

Maurizio Sarri's continued to push for more goals but Perin was on hand to thwart the Juventus attackers as the encounter finished 3-1 to move the defending champions four points clear of Lazio, who defeated Torino earlier on Tuesday evening.
