Serie A Report: Benevento v Juventus 28 November 2020

Result: Benevento 1-1 Juventus

Date: 28 November 2020

Venue: Stadio Ciro Vigorito

Juventus' decision to rest Cristiano Ronaldo backfired as they dropped more points in a 1-1 draw with Benevento on Saturday night.

Andrea Pirlo decided to rest Ronaldo after his involvement in the UEFA Champions League this week, as Alvaro Morata, Federico Chiesa and Paulo Dybala lead the attack.

The game was halted on 10 minutes as the two sides took a minute to honour football legend Diego Maradona, who passed away this week at the age of 60.

The visitors got the game's first goal on 21 minutes through Morata, who skipped past two defenders before finding the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box.

That goal took Morata's tally to three goals in the league to go along with the five he has already netted in the Champions League this campaign.

Benevento were forced into a re-shuffle 10 minutes before the break after Luca Caldirola picked up a knock and was replaced by Christian Maggio.

However, the home side managed to pull level on the stroke of halftime when Gaetano Letizia sent a fine volley into the back of the net from the edge of the box.

Juventus struggled to create openings in the early stages of the second half, which resulted in a double change after the hour mark as Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski replaced Arthur and Aaron Ramsey.

Despite the changes in the second half, clear-cut chances were hard to come by with the game winding down although the tempo was still surprisingly upbeat.

Dybala almost snatched the win for Juventus with four minutes left on the clock but Benevento goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo produced a superb save to secure his side a point.
