Serie A Report: AC Milan v Inter Milan

Result: AC Milan 0-3 Inter Milan

Date: 21 February 2021

Venue: San Siro

Inter Milan went four points clear of AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table after a 3-0 victory in the Milan derby on Sunday afternoon.

The Rossoneri made three alterations, with Ante Rebic and Davide Calabria returning alongside a rare start for Sandro Tonali while Inter were unchanged, with Romelu Lukaku and Martinez leading the front line.

Antonio Conte's charges had a dream start after Martinez gave them the lead in the fifth minute with a header in between two central defenders across goal after a cross by Lukaku.

Theo Hernandez came close to finding the equaliser for AC Milan in the 32nd minute after a rebound inside the box but his curling strike missed narrowly wide.

Ivan Perisic came close to doubling the lead for Inter eight minutes before the break with a thumping strike from the edge of the box that was parried away by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma before Milan Skriniar saw his header sail inches over the crossbar.

Stefano Pioli's troops came back fired up from the break, forcing shot-stopper Samir Handanovic into great saves but Martinez gave Inter a two-goal lead just before the hour-mark and grabbed his brace with a powerful strike after a cut-back from Perisic.

Lukaku put the game to bed for Conte's men in the 66th minute with a low clinical strike that beat goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma at his near post after a through ball by Perisic.

The Rossoneri only got going again in the closing minutes as Rebic and Frank Kessie forced saves out of Handanovic but the writing was on the wall, as Inter held on to go four points clear of Milan at the top of the log.
