The Cameroon striker, who recently joined Sampdoria, revealed he was shocked by video footage of a group of so called Chelsea fans preventing a black man from entering a train in Paris.

"I was shocked when I saw those images, but fortunately Chelsea has millions of fans worldwide," he said after receiving the European Medal of Tolerance by the European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation (ECTR), as quoted by Daily Mail.

"These five or 10 fans are not representative of all the other fans.

"We are here to fight against these issues and try to have harsher laws that are applied in a very tough way to fight against this abuse."

The former FC Barcelona and Inter striker was a victim of racial abuse during his career.

He once threatened to walk off the pitch after Zaragoza supporters made monkey noises whenever he touched the ball.

In Italy, the referee had to stop a game when Cagliari fans made racist chants towards the African, who went on to score the winning goal in the game.
