Manchester United have reportedly rejected Jose Mourinho's attempt to sign one of their star for AS Roma this season.
Mourinho has returned to management with Roma after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in April, seven days before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Rui Patricio remains Mourinho's only signing so far, but reports claim that he was hoping to sign Red Devils full-back Alex Telles on loan for the 2022/22 campaign.
Telles would have provided cover for European Chmpionship winner Leonardo Spinazzola, who faces several months out after suffering an Achilles tendon rupture during the tournament.
Sky Sports Italia have reported that the Manchester side were quick to reject Mourinho's approach for the Brazilian who has also attracted interest from Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Telles, meanwhile, is looking forward to his second season with United after making 24 appearances last campaign.
"I'm really happy to be back here. It's a pleasure to be at Manchester United coming into my second season," Telles told United Daily.
"Last season, we came really close to winning trophies, so we go into this next season with a lot of desire and I really want to show my work and my value here at the club.
