A Juventus star is reportedly pushing for a move to Barcelona after growing discontented in Turin.
The centre-back and midfielder De Jong rose to stardom with the youthful Ajax Amsterdam side that defied the odds to go all the way to the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Soon after, De Ligt signed for Juve at a cost £67.5 million (R1.3 billion) – the second-highest transfer fee for a defender in footballing history – while De Jong moved to Barca.
Having had the harder time of the two settling in at his new club, De Ligt is now reportedly eyeing a move to the Blaugrana after a disappointing two seasons in Turin.
Barca are said to be interested in making a deal work, although the Dutch defender still has three years remaining on his contract with Juventus.
The Catalans are understood to be close to securing the services of Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia on a free transfer and are reportedly also set to sign the Citizens' departing striker Sergio Aguero on a two-year deal.
