Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku's birthday party in Milan was cut short by Italian police this week, and the authorities have since released a statement explaining what transpired.
Ronaldo Sets Two Impressive New Records
The former Chelsea and Manchester United forward, who turned 28 years old on Thursday, is believed to have hosted a birthday party at a hotel in Milan on Wednesday night.
With authorities in Italy working tirelessly to make sure the public is following COVID-19 protocols, curfews have been put in place, rules Lukaku appeared to have ignored.
The Nerazzurri No. 9 and a few of his colleagues were caught celebrating in the early hours of Thursday morning, and the police has since insisted, via a statement, that everybody involved will be punished.
"At 3am last night (Thursday morning), in Milan, Police intervened in a hotel in the city centre, where in an events room there was the birthday party of Inter footballer Romelu Lukaku," the statement read, according to Goal.
"Another 23 people were identified, including some other Inter players and the hotel's director that organised the event.
"The director and the guests will be sanctioned for violating the COVID-19 rules."
It is understood that Lukaku's Inter teammates Achraf Hakimi, Ivan Perisic and Ashley Young were at the hotel party, as per Corriere della Sera.
Antonio Conte's Serie A Champions were in action in a 3-1 win over Roma on Wednesday night, a game in which Lukaku found the back of the net.
