Juventus star Gianluigi Buffon could face a one-match ban for allegedly using a blasphemous expression during a clash with Parma last month.
The 42-year-old is said to have used an offensive phrase while reprimanding his teammate Manolo Portanova when Juve thumped Parma 4-0 in December.
Italy introduced a "Blasphemy Law" back in 2010, and it has affected a number of footballers who have used blasphemous words on the pitch since.
With blasphemy being considered the worst form of swearing by many in Italy, the Italian Football Association opened an investigation into the matter involving Buffon.
According to the Daily Mail, the matter was passed on to the country's federal court on Tuesday.
The shot-stopper reportedly told the midfielder, "I want to see you stay there, running and suffering," before using the offensive term.
He then added, "I don't care about anything else."
In December, Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante received a one-match ban after he was deemed to have used a blasphemous phrase during his club's victory over Bologna, with the incident being picked up on a TV camera.
