Juventus confirmed on Wednesday evening that the 25-year-old had tested positive for the virus. As a consequence, his teammates as well as opponents Inter Milan, who faced Juve last weekend, have been placed under quarantine.
Rugani has since taken to Instagram to thank fans for their messages of support, give an update on his health, and encourage everyone to be cautious.
"You will have read the news and that's why I want to reassure all those who are worrying about me, I'm fine," he wrote, as translated from Italian to English.
"I urge everyone to respect the rules, because this virus makes no distinctions! Let's do it for ourselves, for our loved ones and for those around us."
