Despite being linked with some big names, new Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo is reportedly closing in on a surprise signing ahead of the 2020/21 season.
According to Sky Sports Italy, United States of America international Weston McKennie is nearing a deal with the Serie A champions.
The 21-year-old Schalke midfielder enjoyed an impressive 2019/20 campaign, and looks set to join the Bianconeri on a season-long loan deal with an option for the move to be made permanent in the following campaign.
If he does sign for the Old Lady ahead of the 2021/22 season, Juventus would reportedly need to spend £16 million (R357 million) to secure his signature.
McKennie, capped 19 times for his country, would be the Italian giants' third signing ahead of next season after Arthur Melo and Felix Correia.
