Jose Mourinho's Revenge: Roma To Terminate Pedro's Contract

Jose Mourinho's Revenge: Roma To Terminate Pedro's Contract

Roma winger Pedro said a few things about Jose Mourinho six years ago that seem to be coming back to haunt him, with the Italian club now reportedly set to terminate his contract.

According to several reports in Italy, the 34-year-old is nearing an exit from Roma as the club seeks to cancel his current deal, which is set to expire in 2023 only.

Per Football Italia, Pedro is set to join arch-rivals Lazio in Serie A, with it said to be quite clear that the Spanish winger will not feature in Mourinho's plans this season. The former Barcelona attacker was a regular under previous Roma manager Paulo Fonseca, appearing 40 times across all competitions in the 2020/21 season.

In 2015, Pedro and Mourinho worked together at Chelsea for four months before the Portuguese tactician was sacked in December that year following a string of poor performances and results.

It was the ex-Blues manager who pushed for Chelsea to beat Manchester United to the Spaniard's signature after it seemed certain he would join Louis van Gaal's Red Devils following an incredibly successful seven years in Barca's senior team.

At the time, controversy surrounded the Chelsea camp, with the atmosphere in the dressing room believed to have turned toxic amid several fallouts between players and Mourinho.

Following the Portuguese tactician's departure from Stamford Bridge, Pedro openly discussed the issues the Blues team faced leading up to that moment, telling The Telegraph that: "It was about everything, everything just wasn't right. We were very low in the league, the spirits were very low, the trust was very low, everything was going wrong.

"It made it very difficult to be fit, to be in a good position. It was just the whole thing – it wasn't right."

Those remarks could be the reason Mourinho sees no space in his Roma squad for the retired Spain international, as pointed out by the Daily Mirror.
