The 33-year-old led the Capocannoniere chart since 4 February, but drew two blanks before sitting out this weekend's round of matches as he was rested for the second leg of the Bianconeri's UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid.
As a consequence, Ronaldo was overtaken by Sampdoria forward Fabio Quagliarella, who netted his 20th Serie A goal of the campaign in his side's 2-1 defeat to Atalanta on the weekend.
The 36-year-old scored four goals over the past three gameweeks to move one clear of Ronaldo, while AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek drew level with the Portuguese forward's 19 strikes after netting in the Rossoneri's 2-1 win over Chievo – the Poland attacker scored 13 of his goals for Genoa in the first half of the campaign, and added six more strikes to his name since moving to Milan in January transfer window.
Atalanta's Duvan Zapata is also still within touching distance of the top three, having netted 17 goals in Serie A in 2018/19 so far.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, will have a chance to score his 20th league goal of the campaign when unbeaten Juventus travel to Genoa on Sunday.
