Cristiano Ronaldo & Juventus Dumped Out Of Coppa

Cristiano Ronaldo after being dumped out of the Coppa Italia

Juventus may have won the past four successive Coppa Italia titles, but they will not be able to extend this run despite signing Cristiano Ronaldo after being thumped 3-0 by Atalanta on Wednesday night.

Timothy Castagne and Duvan Zapata, with a brace, were the goalscorers as Atalanta stunned the record 13-time Coppa champions.

Castagne scored the opener from the edge of the box after 37 minutes, while Zapata netted Atalanta's second just two minutes later.

Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri was sent off after furiously throwing his jacket on the pitch following the second goal.

The unbeaten Serie A leaders did not manage to record a single shot on target in the first half, with Atalanta keeping record signing Ronaldo quiet throughout the game.

Juve, who had lost Giorgio Chiellini early on in the game to injury, were not able to come back into the match, and Zapata added his second strike in the 86th minute.

The in-form Colombian has now scored an impressive 17 goals in his past 10 games, booking his team a spot in the Coppa Italia semi-final.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, will have to wait for his second trophy in Italy after Juventus were denied the chance to win their fifth consecutive Coppa title.

In the other quarter-final of the night, Fiorentina thrashed AS Roma 7-1 courtesy of a hat-trick from Federico Chiesa plus goals from Giovanni Simeone (two), Luis Muriel and Marco Benassi.

Alexandar Kolarov scored Roma's only goal, while striker Edin Dzeko was sent off after spitting at the referee.
