Coppa Italia Report: Juventus v Inter Milan

Coppa Italia Report: Juventus v Inter Milan

Result: Juventus 0-0 Inter Milan (Juve won 2-1 on agg.)

Date: 09 February 2021

Venue: Allianz Stadium

Juventus advanced to the Coppa Italia final with a 2-1 aggregate win over Inter Milan, after the second leg ended goalless on Tuesday night.

Andrea Pirlo made seven changes from the win over AS Roma, with the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Chiellini, Federico Chiesa, Arthur, Weston McKennie and Alvaro Morata dropping to the bench.

Inter came into the clash trailing Juventus by one goal after the 2-1 first-leg loss, although they did look more livelier from the onset in the second leg.

Romelu Lukaku went close to pulling Inter ahead on 25 minutes from Christian Eriksen's free-kick, but his glancing header sailed wide of the mark.

Juventus had to wait until the final five minutes of the half for their first opening as Ronaldo's strike on the edge of the box was superbly kept out by Samir Handanovic.

It was more of the same in the second half as Gianluigi Buffon was called into action on 58 minutes, keeping out Lautaro Martinez's close-range strike.

Both sides opted for a change for the final 30 minutes, with Ivan Perisic replacing Matteo Darmian for Inter while Juve's McKennie made way for Federico Bernardeschi.

The battle between Ronaldo and Handanovic continued 10 minutes later, with the Inter shot-stopper producing another good save to deny the Portuguese superstar from distance.

Antonio Conte's thew everything forward in search of an away goal that would've secured progression, but Juventus remained resolute at the back and held on for 2-1 aggregate win.
