Juventus had to wait until the final five minutes of the half for their first opening as Ronaldo's strike on the edge of the box was superbly kept out by Samir Handanovic.
It was more of the same in the second half as Gianluigi Buffon was called into action on 58 minutes, keeping out Lautaro Martinez's close-range strike.
Both sides opted for a change for the final 30 minutes, with Ivan Perisic replacing Matteo Darmian for Inter while Juve's McKennie made way for Federico Bernardeschi.
The battle between Ronaldo and Handanovic continued 10 minutes later, with the Inter shot-stopper producing another good save to deny the Portuguese superstar from distance.
Antonio Conte's thew everything forward in search of an away goal that would've secured progression, but Juventus remained resolute at the back and held on for 2-1 aggregate win.
