Antonio Conte Slams Inter Milan Chiefs In Controversial Rant

Despite finishing second in Serie A in his debut season in charge of Inter Milan, manager Antonio Conte had plenty to say about his club's bosses in a big rant after their match on the weekend.

The Nerazzurri beat Atalanta 2-0 away from home on Saturday to secure second spot in the league, finishing just a point behind champions Juventus.

After the match, Conte went on a massive rant about Inter's board and its lack of "protection" for his players, which many believe to be in reference to the criticism his men took earlier in the 2019/20 campaign when they were not performing well.

"It has been a tough year on a personal level, very tough. I don't think the players saw their work recognised and I don't think I saw my work recognised," he said, according to Sky Sports Italia.

"We all received very little protection from the club.

"We have to grow and improve in all areas, including off the field, and a big club should protect its players more.

"We'll discuss it all at the end of the season. I have to meet the president (Steven Zhang) and he's in China right now."

Conte then added that, in order to catch Juventus, who have won the Serie A title for nine consecutive seasons now, Inter need to be strong not just on the field, but off it too.

"It was very, very intense this year, difficult, and the lads did well to isolate ourselves and create unity within us, despite the difficulties. I don't like people who get on the bandwagon and I saw a lot of that with Inter this year," he continued.

"We had to take all the poop for months and got zero protection. My problem is that I have a vision, I see the path we have to take and I know what we need to do.

"I can be a lightning rod for the first year, but if you don't learn and keep making the same mistakes, then that's just crazy.

"If you want to reduce the gap with Juventus, you have to be strong on the pitch, but, above all, off it."

Inter scored more goals and conceded fewer strikes than winners Juventus did this season, but drew double the number of matches the Bianconeri did.
