The Portuguese will return to management next season, after it was announced on Tuesday that he will succeed Paulo Fonseca at Roma in Italy's top division.

Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur's last month following a run of poor performances and results, but is now already preparing for the 2021/22 campaign.

As expected, with the confirmation of his new role has come several different reports linking the 58-year-old with a number of players across Europe, and we have now looked at who they are.

According to English publication football.london, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager is considering moving for four Spurs players – Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The four footballers became regular features under Mourinho during his spell in north London, though convincing them to join his project in Italy might be incredibly difficult considering Roma are unlikely to play UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League football next season.

Spurs could still realistically finish in a European spot in the Premier League, though it will go right down to the wire with four league matches still left to play.

Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera claim Mauro Icardi could also be a potential target to replace 35-year-old Edin Dzeko, along with Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic, a 21-year-old Serbian international who has scored 19 goals in Serie A in this campaign.
