Zinedine Zidane Rift With Real Madrid Star

Luka Jovic

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has denied reports of a rift between him and striker Luka Jovic following the club's 0-0 draw away at Real Sociedad.

Los Blancos were struggling in attack during the fixture, but despite having the Serbian striker on the bench, Zidane opted to leave him there for the entire match.

Assessing the result after the game, Sky Sports quote the Frenchman as saying: "It was difficult because we could have brought on another striker, but that would have changed our shape and I didn't want to do that, I wanted to improve our wing play by bringing on wide players, and that's what we did."

The Real boss was then directly asked if he had a problem with the former Eintracht Frankfurt attacker, who made only four starts for the LaLiga giants last season.

"No, we have many players in our squad and I have to pick them, and I decided to do what I did," Zidane responded.

"I don't have anything against any player, it was all about our formation and I didn't want to change it, and Karim was playing well."

Jovic has been linked with a move away from the club in this transfer window, with Zidane reportedly telling him to secure a loan move.
