With many surprised to see Real Madrid seemingly selling African star Achraf Hakimi, manager Zinedine Zidane was pressed about the player's impending transfer to Inter Milan.
Following two excellent seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, the attacking right-back is set to join Inter Milan after already undergoing a medical.
While many see the 21-year-old's expected Santiago Bernabeu exit as a surprise, Zidane seemed to imply there is more to the beautiful game than just what happens on the pitch.
"There's a club, a player and a coach. In the end, these decisions are made, and that's it," he said when asked about Hakimi's potential move to Italy, according to Sport.
"He's our player (at the moment), but anything can happen. He's had a good season (at Dortmund).
"But at this club, there are two key elements: the financial side and the sporting side. Now isn't the moment to talk about that, although things might happen soon.
"But I can only talk about the sporting side, and tomorrow (Thursday) we have a match."
Prior to his two-year loan in Germany, Hakimi represented Los Blancos 17 times, winning the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League trophy and the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup in the process.
