According to Sport, the legendary midfielder will call time on his illustrious career with the record European champions at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
The 38-year-old reportedly considered leaving the club during the previous off-season, but believing he could still be a major contributor for a top club challenging at the highest level, he opted to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu for another year.
However, Modric has not enjoyed the prominence he once did with Los Merengues this season, with Jude Bellingham having taken a starring role and the Croat managing only six starts for the Spanish giants in all competitions this campaign.
The relegation to a bench role is believed to not be sitting well with the Zader native, and he is now expected to depart the LALIGA giants for Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.
The Saudi Pro League was heavily interested in Modric during the previous transfer window, reportedly offering the playmaker a three-year deal that would have seen him earn €120 million (R2.4 billion) annually.
Ultimately, he opted against taking it at the time, but his agent has hinted that playing in the Gulf state is something that interests the five-time UEFA Champions League winner, but only if the price is right.

The same report suggests, though, that a January exit is unlikely, largely because of the growing injury list at the club.
