Toni Kroos Hits Out At Pay Cuts

Following news that FC Barcelona's first-team stars are taking major pay cuts during the coronavirus outbreak, Real Madrid superstar Toni Kroos has slammed the idea of players having their wages cut.

With rivals Barca and Atletico Madrid both confirming that their players will be taking 70% wage cuts during these difficult financial times for clubs, Real are among the many franchises across the football world who will not be taking a similar action.

Kroos, a Germany international, agrees with his club's economic stance on the matter, believing that it is better for players to get paid in full and then decide which organisations to donate to themselves amid the fight against the COVID-19 virus.

"Waiving salary is like a donation in vain, or to the club," he told the SWR Sport podcast.

"It should be an option for everyone to consider. I think it's even better to get the full salary and then do the right thing with it.

"I don't think it's necessary here (at Real). The other thing is the question of what I do with all the money I get.

"We must all help where help is needed. And there are a lot of places where help is needed right now."
