Report: Iker Casillas Returns To Real Madrid

Legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas has reportedly returned to Real Madrid five years after his infamous departure.

According to Marca, the veteran shot-stopper is set to hang up his boots in order to step into the coaching game.

Casillas suffered a heart attack during a FC Porto training session last year and is yet to play a competitive match since the incident on 1 May 2019.

The Spanish publication now claims the 39-year-old will now work with club president Florentio Perez in an adviser role, which is expected to clarified in the coming weeks.

The role is reported to be similar to the position Zinedine Zidane had when Jose Mourinho was manager of Los Blancos.

The news does come as a surprise after the 2010 World Cup winner had a war of words with Perez before his departure in 2015.

Casillas did not receive the farewell he had hoped for after his fall-out with Perez, with veteran reportedly turning down the chance of a send-off.

Casillas spent 16 years at the Santiago Bernabeu, where he won five LaLiga titles, three Champions League titles, two Copa del Rey's and four Super Cups.
