After Real claimed both the Champions League and LaLiga last season, there will be a feeling of disappointment in Madrid following what has been an underwhelming 2022/23 campaign by their standards, despite their Copa del Rey triumph.
Personnel changes are expected at the Santiago Bernabeu as several members of the first-team squad enter the final weeks of their contract, such as Marco Asensio and long-time servant Nacho Fernandez.
Here are five players who could leave Real and five players the club could sign:
In Asensio's case, the Spain international is reportedly prioritising staying at the club, while Nacho, 33, has previously hinted that this could be his last season in white. The versatile defender has only ever represented Real since being promoted from the club's Castilla (reserve) side in 2012, amassing 316 appearances and claiming an impressive 21 trophies.
Mariano Diaz and Dani Ceballos will also see their deals expire in June should they not sign extensions before then, while it is believed the club will explore an exit for Belgian winger Eden Hazard.
The ex-Chelsea star is reportedly not short of suitors, but he has publicly insisted he has no intention of leave the 14-time European winners before his contract runs out in 2024.
In terms of potential arrivals, Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham is believed to be a key and realistic target. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Real.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich fullbacks Alphonso Davies and Noussair Mazraoui have emerged as options for Los Blancos, who could reportedly be looking to strengthen at left- and right-back going forward.
