Real Star Makes LaLiga Title Admission After ElClasico Defeat

Thibaut Courtois has conceded that the race for the LaLiga title is all but over.

Following Real Madrid's latest ElClasico defeat to Barcelona, Belgium star Thibaut Courtois had made surprise admission about the club's chances of winning the league title.

Barca's dramatic 2-1 win over Real on Sunday put the Blaugrana 12 points ahead in the LaLiga standings as Xavi looks on course to end the club's four-year wait for a league title.

Ivory Coast star Franck Kessie scored in the 91st minute to complete a come-from-behind victory over Los Blancos as the Catalan giants moved to 68 points with 12 games left to play this season.

Following his side's defeat at the Camp Nou, Real shot-stopper Courtois conceded that they have all but relinquished the title to their bitter rivals.

"Yes, we have to be honest," Courtois told Movistar when asked if the title was now out of reach for Los Merengues.

"We wanted to fight until the end, but now it's four games' difference...

"They'd have to lose four games, and we'd have to win all of them.

"Nothing is impossible, but it's very difficult."

The reigning European champions have now lost three successive matches to Barca across all competitions, and will prepare to face them a fifth time this season when they contest the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final early next month, one of two cup competitions the team from the Spanish capital can still win.

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti claimed that should they continue to play in the manner they did on Sunday, then at least one of the Spanish cup and the UEFA Champions League will be coming to the Santiago Bernabeu this year.

"We're sad, we're hurting, but we're proud of the game we played," the Italian said.

"If we play like that for the rest of the season, we'll win something, for sure."
