Real Star Apologises For Watching NBA Instead Of Teams Copa Del Rey Clash

Rodrygo and Aurelien Tchouameni

One of Real Madrid's injured stars has apologised to the Los Blancos faithful for going to watch an NBA game in Paris while his team were contesting a Copa del Rey round of 16 tie.

Real holding midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni was spotted in his native France watching the Chicago Bulls triumph over the Detroit Pistons at the Accor Arena in the French capital on Thursday night.

While the 22-year-old witnessed the Bulls improve their record, Los Blancos were at the Estadio de la Ceramica overturning a two-goal deficit to win their Copa last 16 clash against Villarreal 3-2.

After some criticism was aimed at him, Tchouameni has now apologised for going to the basketball match instead of being present for Real's cup tie.

"I apologise to my club, the coaching staff, my teammates and the Madrid fans for my presence at an event at a time when we were at stake in the Cup," the France international wrote on his official Twitter account.

"I have been attentive at all times to what was happening in Villarreal, but I have not done the right thing. Very sorry."

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti's substitutions in the cup match made all the difference as Dani Ceballos came off the bench to score the winning goal to exact revenge for their previous encounter in LaLiga, when the Yellow Submarine were able to secure a 2-1 victory.

One man who did not seem happy to be substituted was Brazilian winger Rodrygo. With the team down 2-0 down, the Italian tactician decided to take off the young attacker, but on his way to the bench he refused to look at Ancelotti.

Shortly after taking a seat, the former AC Milan boss was seen turning around and scolding the Brazil international.
