Real Madrid have reportedly made a surprising decision regarding captain Sergio Ramos' future at the club.
The Spaniard is approaching the end of his current contract, and Los Blancos have been looking to tie the veteran defender down to a new deal.
However, it now seems increasingly likely Ramos will leave the club after 16 years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 34-year-old, who has played 668 games for Real to date, is said to already be planning a move to "a European club", according to the Daily Mail.
Spanish journalist Siro Lopez has also claimed that Ramos has already rejected two contract offers from Los Blancos.
One was said to be a two-year deal with a 10% salary reduction due to the financial constraints caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The other was understood to be a one-year extension on his current salary, but both were rejected by the player.
Per the abovementioned English publication, Real have now given up on securing the centre-back's services, and will not be making another offer to the defender.
Ramos, who is currently recovering from a knee operation, last featured for Zinedine Zidane's side in their Supercopa de Espana semi-final on 14 January, and is only expected to return to action in April.
