With Real Madrid reportedly keen to sign an African superstar in the coming transfer window, the Spanish giants have reportedly given his club a deadline for when the deal must be completed.
Los Blancos are still looking for a prolific goalscorer to fill the gap left by Cristiano Ronaldo, with Karim Benzema being their only player to have scored more than seven goals across all competitions this season.
The latest reports suggest that Real are keen to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is seemingly unwilling to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
His current deal expires in June 2021, and the Premier League side is understood to be preparing to sell him in the coming window instead of losing him for free next season.
Real, though, want the deal confirmed by mid-June, and have given the Gunners a 16 June deadline to make their decision, according to the Daily Mirror.
Aubameyang is understood to be keen to move to the LaLiga giants after promising his late grandfather, who lived in a small town close to Madrid, he would play for the club.
"Before he died two years ago, I promised him that one day I would play for Real Madrid," the forward said in 2016, as quoted by The Sun.
"My grandfather was from Avila, not far from Madrid. It's what I said to him. I know it's not easy but it's something I keep in mind."
It is claimed Real would prefer a swap deal including Dani Ceballos, who is currently on loan at the Premier League side, but it seems a straight transfer is more likely at this stage.
Aubameyang joined Arsenal in January 2018, and has since scored 61 goals in 97 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners.
