Real Madrid 'Choose' Next Boss After Ancelotti

Real Madrid 'Choose' Next Boss After Ancelotti

Real Madrid have reportedly chosen who they want to replace Carlo Ancelotti when he leaves the club at the end of the season.

Real Madrid have reportedly already decided who they want as their next manager when Carlo Ancelotti's contract expires at the end of the season.

It is speculated that the 2023/24 campaign will be the 64-year-old's final season in charge of Los Blancos as he is expected to take charge of the Brazil national team next year.

The four-time UEFA Champions League-winning manager has been under pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu since last season, and while it was suggested that he might leave before the commencement of the current season, he is expected to see out his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the Spanish giants believed to be preparing for his replacement.

According to Radio Marca, the 35-time LALIGA champions have decided that club icon Xabi Alonso is the right man to succeed the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss.

The Basque native has not been involved in football management for long, having taken charge of his first senior professional side, Bayer Leverkusen, on 5 October 2022, but his inexperience does not seem to be an issue for Real as he has impressed many in his short time in management.

Last season, the 41-year-old guided the Bundesliga outfit from second from bottom when he took charge to sixth place, while making a run all the way to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.

His side has continued its good form under him in the latest campaign, too, as they are currently second in the German top flight, with only goal difference separating his charges from log leaders Bayern Munich.

Alonso started his coaching career with one of Real's youth teams after he retired as a player in 2018, so it would mark a full-circle moment for him should he be successfully appointed as Los Merengues next boss.
