Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes Karim Benzema should be the favourite for this year's Ballon d'Or award.
Benzema played a key role in Los Blancos' title-winning season after bagging 21 LaLiga goals, which sees him sit two goals behind Golden Boot leader Lionel Messi.
Zinedine Zidane recently claimed that all his players were deserving of the Ballon d'Or accolade, but Perez feels Benzema is worthy of the award after a great year.
"Benzema should win the Ballon d'Or, I have not seen another player have as good a year as him," Perez told El Transistor on Thursday.
Perez continued his praise for the Frenchman the next day and compared the striker to Zidane.
"Benzema has been the most criticised player in the world but he's the best in the world. In terms of how he plays, he's a centre-forward more like [Zinedine] Zidane than Ronaldo Nazario," he told Cope.
"He has been here since 2009 and that says it all."
