Jose Mourinho Reveals He & Iker Casillas Have Made Up

Former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he and ex-Los Blancos goalkeeper Iker Casillas have made up since their spat that lasted several years.

The Portuguese tactician and Casillas have shared many heated words over the years, after their big fallout at the Spanish giants during the 2012/13 season.

Mourinho dropped Real's then No. 1 for Diego Lopez in his final season as Los Blancos boss, and while the tactician eventually left, Casillas struggled to rediscover his best form, and departed his boyhood club in 2015.

The pair exchanged remarks about one another a few times in the years that followed, but following Casillas' recent decision to retire from football, Mourinho has insisted that he and the 39-year-old have since patched their relationship up.

"His intelligence and maturity have made us always respect each other, and years later we have even been able to cultivate an honest friendship," he told AS.

"He is a historic goalkeeper for Real Madrid, La Roja (Spain national team) and world football.

"With him I won La Liga and with him I had difficult moments due to my professional and never personal decision to play another player.

"(He is a) great goalkeeper and a great man."

Casillas suffered a heart attack during an FC Porto training session in May last year, and has not been able to compete professionally since that incident.

The Spaniard leaves football having played 881 matches at club level, and 167 times for his country, claiming 24 trophies overall.
