Following his axing from Real Madrid's matchday squad for their UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City on Friday, it has been claimed Gareth Bale wants to return to the Premier League.
The Welshman's future at Los Blancos remains uncertain, and rumours of an exit continue after he was dropped for the second leg of the UCL round of 16 clash against the Citizens.
Speaking about the 31-year-old's potential exit from Real, Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero claimed that, while the strongest speculation links him with a move to the Chinese Super League, Bale wants to go back to England.
"He didn't want to go to China, he wants to return to the Premier League, but he earns €70 million (over five years) at Real Madrid.
"There's no club in the world, after a player that has been two seasons without playing more or less, who can pay for that. It's a lot of money.
"So, I think it's going to be a tricky situation, but I am afraid he's going to stay at Real Madrid."
Bale has played just 20 matches for Real so far this season, contributing to five goals along the way.
