An ex-Chelsea teammate of the Belgian's, John Obi Mikel, has revealed that Hazard made the decision to turn down a deal reportedly worth £50 million to play in Saudi Arabia prior to calling time on his career.
The former Belgium captain struggled over a four-year spell at Real Madrid after becoming the most expensive player in the Spanish club's history and eventually chose to stop playing football earlier this year, despite interest in his signature.
Hazard was among a long list of high-profile players pursued by teams in the Middle East, but opted against making the move in favour of hanging up his boots.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with Five podcast, Mikel shared a conversation he had with Hazard about the offers he had from Saudi sides.
"(Hazard asked) 'Should I go to Saudi Arabia, where I'm going to take a million a week... and then what? I got about two or three offers to go to Saudi Arabia'.
"'Mikel, I've got a lot of money. You know how I live my life. I don't spend too much money. So, I have money now to live with my family and to bring up [my children].'"
