Former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made a bold claim about Cristiano Ronaldo's Ballon d'Or wins.
Ronaldo Issues Challenges To Messi
Luka Modric was awarded the prestigious individual prize last week, ending Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's10-year dominance of the award.
The Croatian has had a fantastic 2018 with club and country, and was the outright favourite for the accolade by the time the awards ceremony in Paris took place.
Asked about Modric winning the prize, Ibrahimovic controversially claimed that it now shows that Messi was challenging Real Madrid for the award, instead of just Ronaldo.
"Now we can see that Messi was competing for the Ballon d'Or against Florentino Perez, not Cristiano," he said, according to Fox Sports.
Many others share the opinion that Real's powerful influence is what guarantees their players individual recognition.
Ronaldo Comments On Modric Winning Ballon d'Or
