The Juventus forward continues to close in on first place – currently occupied by Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski – following his two goals from the penalty spot in the Bianconeri's 2-2 Serie A draw with Atalanta on the weekend. Ronaldo has now scored 20 times across all competitions for his club in 2020, which is eight more goals than FC Barcelona's Messi has struck since the beginning of the year.
It should also be noted that the Juve striker has played three matches less than his famous counterpart, who is currently averaging a goal every 165 minutes while Ronaldo is scoring every 85 minutes.
This means Messi does not even feature in the top 10 – although he is tied with a few players in the ranking, he has played more minutes for his goals than they have.
Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland has so far scored 16 goals this year for BVB, and is followed by Atalanta attacker Josip Ilicic, whose 14 goals in 16 matches has earned him a spot in fourth place.
Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz and Kylian Mbappe also feature in the ranking, as does former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, who has continued his healthy strike rate in 2020 with 12 strikes to date.
