Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport published its annual salary review of Serie A clubs after the European transfer window closed last week Monday.
Ronaldo has been the league's top earner since joining Juventus in 2018, receiving a whopping €31 million (R604 million) per year, with only Neymar and Lionel Messi pocketing a higher base salary in football.
The disparity in Italy, though, is so high that the Portugal talisman alone earns more than the entire wage bills of Udinese, Hellas Verona, Spezia and Crotone.
the 35-year-old also earns almost four times as much as second-placed Matthijs de Ligt, who is paid €8 million (R156 million) per annum.
Juventus dominate the top 10, with five of their stars among Serie A's highest-paid players, but the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sanchez also feature – you can see the complete top 10 in the gallery above!
There is also a huge discrepancy between the league's top-earning coach, Inter Milan's Antonio Conte, who receives €12 million (R234 million) a year, and second-placed AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, who is paid €2.5 million (R48.6 million) annually.
New Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo earns a comparably low salary after agreeing to a €1.8 million (R35 million) annual deal to take charge of the Bianconeri.
Overall, the Serie A salaries have decreased from €1.36 billion (R26.5 billion) last season to €1.288 billion (R25.1 billion) today.
